Under the direction of the President/CEO, the Workforce Development Manager is responsible for collaborating with SLO County employers on strategies to sustain a strong local workforce through: ● Accelerating the adoption of family-friendly practices in workplaces throughout SLO County ● Educating SLO County employers on strategies to sustain a strong local workforce through investments in quality child care and family-friendly workplace policies ● Ensuring that every SLO County business interested in becoming even slightly more family-friendly has resources and support
Educate employers on the benefits of family-friendly policies (including but not limited to employer-supported child care), share economic benefits of family friendly workplaces for employers and the community at large, and highlight the positive long-term outcomes ● Develop and administer assessment for businesses to evaluate their existing family-friendliness ● Provide off-site consultation/assistance to businesses throughout SLO County; answering phone calls/email inquiries and regularly following up to check on progress and assist through the process ● Build out an example policy library to shortcut implementation work ● Facilitate connections between businesses, childcare professionals and each other to build comradery, share best practices, surface common challenges and collaborate on solutions ● Convene quarterly round table meetings for business leaders ● Provide key support for We Are The Care Cross Sector Collaboration Task Force ● Partner with industry associations including SLO Farm Bureau and Visit SLO CAL to provide targeted information to businesses whose hours are not typically 8-5 ● Regular collaboration with First 5 SLO County, Childcare Resource and Referral Agency, and Childcare Planning Council to support childcare providers as well as identify and help break down barriers to the growth of the child care sector |
