Spark*l was founded on the idea that fashion is versatile and can extend to even our smart watches. Because of the lack of watches on the market, Spark*l started as most companies do. We created something we wanted for ourselves. We created a band that became an alternative to the purely functional Apple Watch rubber band. We began to incorporate designer canvas into our bands and we found an amazing way to combine the luxury aspect of the designer canvas and the modern bohemian styles of our bands.

We experienced an incredible amount of growth after friends began spreading the word of our wonderful products. We moved into a bigger space, welcomed more artisans into our company, and have been dedicated ever since to changing the future of fashion. Spark*l has been creating and shipping watchbands all the world. Each band is handcrafted with love in San Luis Obispo, CA.

Job Title Human Resources Generalist
Job Responsibilities

Payroll

  • Enter new employee information, pay increases, direct deposit changes, 401(k) changes, vacation, sick time and bonus information
  • Preparation and submittal of payroll
  • Issue stop payments as necessary
  • Creation of payroll files for each employee 

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations
  • Create, enforce and educate employees on our employee policy guide

Employee Relations

  • Advise managers and supervisors on proper conduct and how to navigate through difficult situations with employees and each other
  • Prepare, deliver employee disciplinary action as necessary

New Hires

  • Conduct new hire orientations
  • Ensure all legal documents are completed and filed correctly
  • Coordinate training and start dates with various companies

Health Benefit Administration

  • Distribute health, dental, and vision information to newly eligible employees
  • Coordinate status changes and payment changes during open enrollment and when there are qualifying events
  • Prepare and manage COBRA paperwork and coverage for departing employees

401(k) and Profit Sharing Administration

  • Comply and supply auditors with required documentation and reporting
  • Prepare annual employee report for profit sharing purposes
  • Distribute profit sharing statements
  • Prepare bi-annual 401(k) reports for newly eligible employees
  • Responsible for assisting employees in completing 401(k) applications, coordination of new account set up with third party administrators
  • Assist employees when they are able to cash out or roll over their vested profit sharing amounts as well as 401(k) contributions

Workers Compensation

  • Comply and supply auditors annually with required documentation and reporting
  • Assist injured workers with work related injury paperwork
  • Coordinate treatment
  • Work with the workers compensation company with proper reporting
  • Do all we can to minimize future injuries in the workplace

Safety and Facility Management

  • Ensure all Spark*l facilities are running smoothly
  • Liaison to all building maintenance vendors
  • Review and find ways to cut facility costs
  • Assist as needed with various building projects
  • Ensure monthly safety inspections are conducted company-wide

Employee Recognition

  • Coordinate all monthly events
  • Track upcoming employee anniversaries
